Finishing Basement for Home Theater. Appreciate any acoustics help.

228 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  rudolpht
Appreciate any help on the following:

Planning to finish a basement. Will be putting up 2x3 or 2x4 walls around the cement foundation and enclosing a room about 15x22' which will become my new office/home theater.

I could wallboard the walls and ceiling & skimcoat, but I understand there may be better materials for sound absorbtion materials, which may actually save me having to wall board.

Any suggestions? thanks,

Tim

Visit www.auralex.com

They make availiable a pdf of a document they call "Acoustics 101" which I think you will find interesting and helpfull.
Great Brian. Thanks.

You should do a search in the construction forum here. Very specific, practical advice. Recording studios, listening rooms and Home theaters have different acoustic needs.

Thanks Ted, a great help.

I spend 99% of my time in the HDTV forum & didn't even know there was a construction forum. Thanks very much.
