Hi, I heard you can get TV channels without the use of a Set Top Box.

My family has an STB for the family room TV on the main floor.

I have a TV in the basement with no coax wall jack in sight. But there is the Verizon FiOS ONT in the same room.
Could I split the "Cable Out" connection in two, plugging the one end into the usual place; the STB upstairs, and the other end into the TV in the basement?

I know I won't get every channel but my question is, would there be any degradation of signal by using the splitter?

My understanding is that some FiOS channels are unencrypted and can be received with any QAM tuner.

I don't know if the splitter will work, but I don't see any harm in trying.

As far as signal degradation goes, it's a digital signal. It'll either work or it won't. If it doesn't work, take the splitter back out.
