Yes. There is a postcard in the box that you fill out and mail to Toshiba for free updates. I have received 2 updates for my A2 this way so far.

Firmware updates w/o internet access
Ok, so this is going to sound strange. My father is interested in a HD DVD player especially at the prices this week. However he doesn't have internet access @ his house, he lives in a very rural area. Can Toshiba ship out CDs or DVDs with the new Firmware updates as they become available?
