LOL, looks interesting, but no information about who even made the machine makes this highly suspect imho.
Thats why i threw in the (?) . I tried to blow up the front in photoshop to see the writing on the front with no luck.

Exactly. Maybe some of our industry insiders can get cracking on this. ;)
I have I-O DATA AVEL LINKPLAYER2 and I can say this player is very similar to it except that there are no mark of I-O data and AVEL LINKPLAYER below the power button and the upper part of the player. Also there are a slight different logos over the right front and lower part of the player.
Could also be a no-name because it's manufactured by an OEM and many different names might end up on the front-panel....
This player maybe a prototype or sample. Note there appears to be no back panel, no screws on rear of the case, and there appers to be two holes below and to the right of the power button that could be used to secure a brand "badge".
It is an I-O Data due in nov/2004

(I-O DATA Japan AVLP2/DVDG) in the pictures,

(I-O DATA USA/CA AVLP2/DVDLA) does not currenly have the dvi hookup

I'm not exactly sure it's the same model, as it may be a pre-production model, or something completely different :).

But the Avel Linkplayer2 is going to be available around Nov 2004.

What are your impressions of the player? I have an EDTV (480p) TV, but would be interested in your impressions of both 480p and HD performance of DVD's, as well as networked media.

Thanks.
IMO if you look closely at the first picture of the thread, you can clearly see it's made by a joint venture between Uma Thurman and Bose. i also think they should make those blue lights a little brighter. better sound through bright lighting. i would avoid this thing like the plague.

It looks like the "HD-228 NET (USB)" made by Shenzhen Contel Electronics Technology Co. Ltd in China.

I visited the site, any dealers or anyone know where to buy this ? The good thing is, it looks like we are on the verge of a getting a bunch of these WM9 players, if a year too late by most expectations.

Buy.com keeps saying the Kiss DP-600 is 2 weeks away now from availability for months/
