After Reading more on this site I'm looking at spending the little extra and will build a system. I'm still looking to spend about $600-700. I have decided to get the Athena Micra 6 for speakers, but need help with a reciever. Any suggestions are appreciated?

if you want to have the most options, especially for video games, get a receiver with optical inputs, preferably 2-3. It is the only way to get 5.1 sound from xbox/ps2/360. Other than that I am useless.....the others will help you there.

on that budget, you can buy a brand new entry level yamaha, onkyo, or pioneer. all good receivers that should have more than enough inputs/outputs and power for a small room.

or you could buy a refurbished mid/entry level receiver from HK, denon, or the bigger brothers of those mentioned above. try ebay, ubid, jr, for these deals or even direct from the manufacturer.

if you want a digital amp, the panasonic xr55 seems to have a loyal following, and that will also fit your budget. hope this helps.
i am also thinking of the micras...and am also looking for a receiver to power them, as well as a dvd, ps2, and digital cable. looking for something around $300, to keep the entire system at $600 total. any specifics??? pioneer 1015, panny xr55, xr70? (although the 70 might be more than i need)??? my room is very small as well, only 10x15.
you won't find a 1015 for $300, but i may be selling my 1014 for under $300, if you're interested PM me...
