I am currently in the market for a new TV for my apartment. I'm really undecided about whether to go with LCD or Plasma. For the size of my room at the apartment, I think I am leaning towards either a 40" or 42". I have heard great things about plasmas and I know the PQ is excellent, but I do tend to play a lot of games on my 360 so I'm not so sure about that. The TV will mostly be used for 360 gaming, serving as a computer monitor occasionally, hooking up to the computer to play Blu-Ray disc from a Blu-Ray drive in the computer, and a general TV to watch channels on. The thing is at the apartment I do not have HD cable so I only get about 60 standard channels, so I'm thinking of some way/method to get HD channels where I will be living. I will be sitting fairly close to the TV also, probably about 5 feet away because my room is really small.

So whats better for me in this case?

Plasma or LCD? 720p or 1080p?

I would go LCD 1080P. I was considering a 40" or 42" for my room until I actually looked at them in the store. They will seem much bigger once in your room. Also, the 37" and 32" from a closer distance looks better to me. Plasmas are not as good with day time viewing as LCD. For gaming, and a Computer monitor, LCD.

If it is not possible for you to subscribe to HD cable or satellite, you can connect an antenna to pull in local digital channels. Most of these channels have a lot of HD programming, especially during prime time viewing hours. Also, if you have your cable plugged straight into the TV without an STB you can use the TV's QAM tuner to pull in unencrypted HD channels, usually the locals.

Ya, at first I was leaning towards an LCD screen then I heard so much about Plasma's so then I started leaning towards them, but its good to hear one opinion of LCD.

As far as HD channels, I have been looking into an antenna and stuff with a tuner card, but I'm not exactly sure how it all goes together yet.
