Do Grey screens exacerbate fixed pattern noise? Or is it just gain that increases it? I had a HD-20 and I saw grain in bright daylight sky scenes and it was very annoying. Is it inherent to LCDs? Do certain screens cause it to be more noticable? Is it related to screendoor? I am starting to think that my Firehawk may not be ideally mated with an LCD. However I have a 400Q and do not notice this anomaly. Is it also related to lumens? In other words the brighter the LCD the more noticeable? Maybe with a 1K lumen LCD it will not be as obvious? The 400Q is 400 lumens max.

I just switched to a microperforated GrayHawk and noticed a decrease in graininess with my PLV-60. A surprising side effect of the perforations is that they also make the screendoor much less apparent, probably due to a breakup of the screendoor by the perforations. Moire artifacts are not a problem since the screen is quite large (125" wide).
