hey guys, im kind of new here, didnt know where to post this but here goes.

im using EAC to extract one of my CDs (carter 3) and when i extract them to wav they are at 0% compressed, (this is an exact 100% copy of the disc, right?) but when i use dbpoweramp reference to convert it to flac, it changes to around 35% compressed. wouldnt the .wav (0% compressed) be better than the flac (35% compressed)?

also, do you guys suggest using dbpoweramp to extract the cd, or EAC? any good guides? thanks

FLAC is compressed but lossless so it is the same exact quality in less space. It is like storing your audio data in a ZIP file. When you "ZIP" (encoded to FLAC) it compresses it and when you play it, it's un-ZIPs (uncompressed) it to the original WAV (LPCM) format.
