Floor standing or not

I have the upgrade bug for my speakers. Right now I have one of the onkyo HTIB setups. I'm wondering what everyone feels on floorstanding fronts? I can't decide if I want to get 2 towers for the front or not. I have never had any before. Suggestions and experiences are welcomed.

Your last thread was asking for in-walls? Change your mind?
I just can't decide on anything. My wife and I just purchased our first home and moved in a few weeks ago. I now have a dedicated home theater room that is around 14x12 or so. I am contemplating upgrading all my equipment and my projector as well. Right now I have the Onkyo HTIB from a few years back and have enjoyed it alot but can't help feeling I am missing out on something. I want to upgrade all speakers but just don't know the direction I want to go in. Most replies to my other thread stated to stay away from in walls as they were no good so now I'm leaning towards floor standers for my fronts.
It's not that in-walls are no good. They just take more effort, and planning to do right.

For your size room you could do bookshelf speakers too.

Do you have a total speaker budget?
not really. I can spend probably around $1500-$2000. Are the Klipsch III series that Best Buy carries good?
Well, I don't know much but just went through the same drill.

I ended up with floorstanders (MA RS8s) and love them. I was thinking that 90% of the use would be for a home theatre setup. Well, after listening to these guys with my old music collection that ratio switched to about 90% music. It would have been a mistake for me to go to Option 2, which was bookshelves. The bookshelves would have been fine for HT (probably better), but the RS8's just floor me when listening to music. HT is still pretty good too, although it would probably have been better with upgraded bookshelves and decent sub. Just my worthless 2 cents. The bass coming out of the floorstanders in 2 channel mode just makes all the difference to me.
Here's a list of speakers for you to audition:

Monitor Audio RS6, RS8

Boston Acoustics VR2,VR3

Paradigm Studio 60
Interestingly I found the Studio 60s to be less muddy in the mids than the 100s. Dare I say its a better speaker and for less $, but the 100s sounded a bit "bigger". The 100s do look sexier though
.

I suspect that the difference in the Studio 60 versus the 100 is attributable to room size. Although the RS6 and RS8 are a different design and make, I'll post what MA considers the dividing line between small and large rooms: 9 sq. meters. The extra bass drivers of large floorstanders like the RS8 and Studio 100 would probably muddy up the overall sound in a small room. Some reviewers also prefer the RS6 over the RS8.

I think that they only carry the Klipsch Synergy line, which are entry level speakers. For an entry level speaker, they are good. Depends how much BB wants for them.
