I wouldn't say a significant upgrade, maybe more of a lateral move. If you have a sub, consider a nicer bookshelf instead, since a sub removes the low extension benefit of towers.

So apparently the 814V is like a fake made-up model number to confuse people. Apparently the 814V that A4L sells is actually the 716 but rebranded by A4L to 814V to make the buyer think he is purchasing a higher grade speaker? That's sad.

I didn't think it was a higher grade speaker than the 716V. In fact they call it the 716V/814V in the text of the description on the AC4L site.

I thought the piano gloss black finish is why they gave it the 814V designation.

That's fine, but since the 800-series focals are a significantly better speaker than the 700-series, this seems extremely misleading to me.

Their text even goes as far to say " The floor standing speakers in the Chorus 800V Series deliver much better bass extension while maintaining the incredible soundstage width and depth of their bookshelf designs. "

VERY MISLEADING!

Yeah this was my understanding, but I can see why it would be misleading. The 726V is the next step up from the 716V/814V.
