Hi,


Are there any known issues with Sharpness in Epson 8500UB ? I do see lot of people complaining about red wavy lines....I have not seen such a problem yet. But I have question about sharpness.


My epson seems to have letters that are blurry. Text on the screen is clearly showing it is blurry. I will try one more time trying to focus the projector better. But I am just curious to ask this if there are any known focus issues with Epson 8500UB

With all LCD projectors, convergence issues and chromatic abberation can cause blurry text.


Most likely your projector has one of those issues, I would send it in for a replacement. There are test patterns you can find in the forum for free or use a test disc to check for such issues...

Unfortunately, the Epson 8500ub is known for having this issue and requiring an RMA or two (or three) to find a good unit.


If it is visible by the naked eye even at 1/2 your normal viewing distance, then your PJ has major issues and needs an RMA/exchange.

Can you please help me with what test patterns to use and how to check convergence issues ? Is there any test disc ? More basic question is....What is defined as convergence issue in projectors ?


One thing I see is...The picture is pretty good....But the letters are not that sharp. If I get the letters sharp, I am expecting that picture will be more sharper. Am I correct ?


Does the convergence issue hurt only the letters or even the movie as a whole?
