with native SVGA resolution,700 ANSI brightness,300:1 contrast rate, priced less than $2000,i think it's a competitive model for ht.it's a HDTV ready design, so it takes 480i,480p,720p,1080i signals, and has 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio switch.it has white balance adjustment,so you can tweak it with AVIA or Video Essential to ultimate performance.

i use it with Malata progressive DVD player, the picture is solid and detailed, color saturation is pleasing. With a low gain screen, it even creats some sort of film like effect.i'm really impressed!

For a couple hundred more you can get an LT150 with XGA, 800 L, and 800:1 contrast ratio.

LT150 is very expensive here in China, say more than $4000,it's weird, 'cause other XGA projectors, like MITS X70 only sells at $3000, and even NEC540 just for a little more than $3000.The cheapest XGA projector i can find in Shanghai is Sony CX1,just $2200, however i'm not pleased with its performance.

panasonic LC150 is a HI-VI and PrimeAV magzine recommended model, and it deserves.

jetzh,

The LT150 is so small, it will be very cheap to import it from the US as long as you use a cheap carrier (ie TNT).

I think that shipping will cost you ~$200, so, if you don't have to pay taxes on imported stuff in your country, it could be worthwhile.

Where can you buy the LT150 for $2000? The Dell deam is over. It's $2500-$2600 now.

i did give that a consideration, but since the import tax rate for projectors in China is 30%, so finally i decided not to take the chance to smuggle it through Hongkong, then i bought my lc150.

You can get the LT85, an SVGA little brother of the LT150 for about $1700. Identical in everyway to the LT150 with the same excellent color reproduction, blacks, and contrast ratio except for the native resolution. 800x600 compared to the LT150 at 1024x768.
