I auditioned the 1055 against the HK8000 this spring; to my ears - I preferred the 1055 for HT and the 8000 for music (opposite of what I had expected). I haven't heard the Pioneer, so unsure of that. I expect that any would be a great unit, I do know that new you should be able to get the 7200 for several hundred dollars less than the 1055.
You should go and listen to the AVR 7200, its amplifiers have been widely praised and is now in the Recommended components for Perfect Vision magazine. @ it most latest pricing of around $1100, it delivers tremendous power, excellant DSP modes including Logic 7, a very fine value.
