I have a 5040 that I just can't use any more, as I moved to an area with only Dish (no cable) and I'm sick of the Dish receiver not playing nice, not re-aquiring the signal, etc.

Lifetime activated.

Upgraded the HDD to 80GB.

Original remote included.

I even have the manual, but no box and I can't find an IR Blaster. They're not hard to find if you need one, though.

I'm copying last couple of shows off now via DVArchive, but other than that I really haven't even had it plugged in for a few months (sadly).

Send me an fair offer. Best offer in a week or two takes it.

Sorry. I'm not trying to make this complicated, but I really dunno what these things are really worth these days. it seems to me that eBay is mostly full of folks wanting Tivos and other DVRs rather than these.

Someone else was offering theirs for $250 in another thread and it didn't look like they got too much interest.

I got one PM offer for $100 plus shipping. That offer will be accepted barring someone wanting it for $150 or more.

The request for a price was fine IMHO.

The inclusion of a mild expletive in the request was not essential. It's easy to get into the habit of speaking such mild expletives in sentences, but one usually tries to exclude them in written posts, as it can cause offence.

I'm not really worried about offending a person who's only clear purpose is to sell a device on the web in one of the very few places with a semi-active ReplayTV audience. My only regret was not offending him enough to close his account

And if there he really thought that was even slightly offensive, the old guard would of had him crying themselves away from the internet for a good while.

Who said I was offended?

Regarding my newbie-ness... I opened my account quite a while ago (as you can see by my join date), but hadn't actually needed to post anything because existing threads answered all of my questions. Without these forums, I'd never have used the interestingly-named Poopli, wouldn't have seen when DVA 3.2 got released, and probably wouldn't have ever heard of a showstopper.

It's not a safe assumption that a new forum member has just begun to use the internet. Remember Archie, Veronica, Kermit, and TIA? Remember when Netscape changed their browser icon for v1.1? Remember how fast zmodem was? I'm sure that I'm not the most seasoned one on here, but I'm certainly not the newest.

Hey -- I know! Let's discuss which is more potentially offensive to the "old guard": top posting vs. HTML emails!

Its amazing how the need for HD these days trumps straight-up functionality and ease of use.

I am an example of this, still having/owning HD tivo's and replaytvs.

I love my ReplayTVs and all they do, but still need HD to make use of my HDTV. So I'm forced into a Tivo, as its the best HD DVR out there these days.

i completely agree...i sold off the last of my RTV's almost 2 years and went all TiVO. while i still think the RTV options and software were better (i don't use NetFlix, YouTube, Amazon movie downloads, etc. from my TiVO), the TiVO interface, ease of use and ability to transfer most shows from one unit to another absolutely blows away any cable DVR out there...although, i hear the AT&T U-Verse setup is supposed to be pretty slick.

There are other alternatives to HD Tivo. I have a different system which integrates nicely in with the DVArchive and Replay world. Check out GBPVR.

well, if you have the time and effort to spend planning, building and supporting a true media/DVR PC setup, then yes, there are alternatives out there...but if you want a reliable out-of-the-box solution with a ton of usable features, then TiVO is your best option IMO.
