Force PCM out on DCT6412?

I recorded a concert video from an HD channel and now want to make an audio transfer I can listen to on my iPod. I tried connecting the optical out of the DVR to my computer sound card but because the concert was recorded in 5.1 and my computer cant decode 5.1 audio, all I get is a series of clicks.


Is there a way to force the DCT6412 to output PCM, essentially doing a 5.1->2ch PCM mixdown before outputting the digital audio stream?
