forza 2

Man, I must have had to restart my download of this thing 30 times last night. i finally got it dinner time today and what a disappointment.

When I take the time to download/watch a game trailer, I want to see GAME FOOTAGE! Not CGI. Too many e3 demos are just that, all CGI. Major disappointment. If it's too early into the developement stages to release game footage...don't bother releasing anything at all imho.

You're preaching to the choir. E3 has been a disappointment so far with regards to game footage. With the opening of the show floor today, I can only hope that it improves.
Yea, it seems like developers are putting out stuff earlier and earlier. Heck about half these guys haven't even started writing code...but they got a nice little CGI movie to imprint in all of our heads. Marketing...marketing...marketing.... Gamers want Gameplay. :)
yeah, I just had to vent my frustration! LOL
Yeah the people on the PS3 boards are laughing at xbox fans because after all the complaining about Sony's CGI last year MS turned around and did it this year. I know, I know, difference is Sony clammed up when asked if it was CGI. But they still shouldn't have done it regardless of how early of a build the game is in.
Still, it is some pretty sweet CGI. One of the best on live.
1-how do you know its not gameplay. They later showed the live integration with phones/pcs/360 and used forza as the example. It then showed the car with the new logos applied in game racing around with other cars. That could have been cgi as well, but I expect those scenes to be very close to the real game. If not I will cry and be upset, but oh well.

2-What else was cgi? Halo was said to be in game footage, and GOW was being played live. All of the big games were pretty much in game.

Fable-2 and Too Human come to mind as being CG movies.
It was stated that forza2, fable2 were CG movies.

Too Human had real game footage in the trailer.

It was being played last night on G4's E3 coverage.
Yeah, the last thing I wanted to see is some CGI thing that has almost nothing to do with playing the game.

Though I did see the press release or whatever that said they're adding four real tracks. That's a bit underwhelming actually, but Road America and Sebring are nice additions at least.

If you want to see the heights of CG video that ultimately has nothing to do with the gameplay style of the game, you've got to see the 15 minute demo of MGS4 by Konami.

Download it from:

As great as the cinematics and direction of that video was, it has nothing to do with the real gameplay mechanics of MGS4, which is a top-down tactical espionage/shooter. I'd have to tip my hat to Kojima Productions and the man himself as he scripts, directs and creates the most breathtaking game cinematics.

I just can't stand the storylines of the MG series. They are so ridiculously convoluted that you can tell they were written by someone in a foreign land :)

"So and so is really your long lost genetic sister who was bred to be a killer sniper, but wait, your half-brother is a cybernetic Ninja who has lung cancer and he secretly sets up a meeting with DaiHatsu, a Crime Kingpin who just HAPPENS to be doing arms deals with the President of the United States and the secret mercenary group run by FEMA is out to get you and your computer hacker named Hadji, who is also the son of your clone's twin, Liquid Whoever and you have to take pictures of his microfilm-enhanced thumbnail to save the world from the attack of the hijacked Metal Gear Mech Robot which is, in turn, going to be destroyed by the Super UBER Metal Gear which is totally invisible except when you blow smoke on it so you have to smoke cigarettes and run up to it and stab it in the eye with your knife 300 times during the first boss battle.."

lol, Headrusch.. so true.. the last 2 MGS games on the PS2 I've tried to play more than once.. I keep stopping half way through.. So much BS.. I want gameplay not a movie when I play games (probably why I don't do turn based RPG's often either).. I'd rather rent a movie if that was the case.

edit: don't forget the killer bee man :p

I almost spit my food all over my computer! Funny as it is, it is still true. I stopped after MGS2 and haven't looked back. The old Metal Gear series on NES was awesome. The series just gets old after the uptenth time.

All this unbridled access to e3 to consumers first through G4 and now through Xbox Live has got to be killing developers. Trailers like these are standard fare for a big chunk of the top releases and now people who in the past would never see these things are criticizing them left and right. My only gripe is that Microsoft's bandwidth has been dreadful this week - its bad enough downloading stuff on an off day as it is. I do hope they can resolve these issues though and that we will get this same type of coverage next year. If they do I suspect there will be a lot more playable demos available (although they are likely to be middle-tier games and not established franchises or AAA titles).

KillZone actually came to my mind first... G4 even said the MGS4 actually looked worse this year than last years video... I'm glad they have atleast a demo so far because I was going to pick up Test Drive until I played the demo.. Hopefully more demos are coming out so I can decide which ones I'll get....

Not me.....I find it very rewarding getting to a certain part in a level, and then watching the little movie.....makes it seem as if you're playing a part in a movie, which I think is cool.

Not me, I couldn't stand it in (I forgot the name of it, but it's a 360 cowboy western game) they had so many cut scenes I just couldn't stand it..
The movies are fine for me, but sometimes they just go on for too long...and then when you lose track of what the hell is going on.....I kinda put down the controller and go "yeah, whatever..HEY Sam Fisher, lets go silently cap some bag guys in the face!".

Also the endless run-on sentences with Otacon.....its like....God please stop, STOP....

"Hey Snake You know you should turn to frequency 2.24483 on your CODEC to talk to me. Are you smoking again, you shouldn't be. Say General Whossits has a message for you. "SNAKE THIS IS THE GENERAL YOU HAVE TO GO AND STOP THE METAL GEAR RAY BUT DONT INJURE ANY OF THE GUARDS, UNDERSTAND". Otacon here, Snake, you need to use your camera to take pictures of the Metal Gear, Snake, and then make sure you..." on and on and on and on....OY! :p

CALGON..TAKE ME AWAY!

I also dont really like Boss Battles when all you do is learn a pattern to move, shoot, whatever....its like "MEEEEhHHHH this is so 1980's".......

Dunno tho, alot of people love it to death...I had some fun with it, but it never lasted....I stopped Sons of Liberty when I suddenly became this other character, but had no idea of the story around him. .....I dunno even how far I was in the game. A game that doesnt' call me back is a game I am disappointed in.
