I was browsing through Bed Bath and Beyond and came across blackout panels by Roc-lon (Rockland). I know the biggest problem people have is finding it wider than 54" or 60". They had a single panel that was 80"x104" for $59(# 97179F). That is big enough to give you a ~130" screen with an LT150.

Thought that might help a few people out. Their website is http://www.roc-lon.com/tlcad.html but it appears down. I found it for sale here http://www.comforthouse.com/comfort/blacdrapline.html or check out BB&B.

You know, the shameful part of all of this is that we can buy a full 50 yd long roll of Roc-lon 3 pass (their highest quality) 110" wide blackout material directly from Rockland Industries for $222.00 plus shipping. Now think about it....110" wide with no seams! That is wide enough for just about any screen that most "normal" people would build. Or if you want a really big screen, use the 110" dimension as the height and you could make a screen 195.5" wide (16:9 format). Just over two yards of that stuff (62" to be exact) would make a 110" wide 16:9 screen and cost less than $9.00, so the Comfort House "deals" don't look so good any more, do they? And has anyone actually checked with CH to find out if they used 54" wide pieces sewn together, or did they cut the panels from the 110" wide stuff? Remember, CH is selling these to use as drape and curtain liners, not screens, so their definition of a "single panel" might be different than ours.

I opened it up at Bed Bath and Beyond and it was a single piece, no seem that I could find. I might go back to check again today to make sure. They only had one single panel curtain left.

As for that 110" wide roll, has anyone thought about buying a full roll and then selling sections to AVS members? If this is the price then you could make alot of 100+" screens from it and sell them for $20 or so. I think there would be enough demand to get rid of the entire roll without anyone losing money. If this is something people are interested in then I might just buy the full roll.

I would be interested in some 110" blackout material if someone bought a roll! Heck I'd buy the roll and sell the material myself if there's enough interest.

That's a descent price. Too bad they don't carry the 110" stuff. Or maybe they do. I'll send them an email and see what they say. I can only find the 54" wide on their site in the two types.

I'd also be interested buying a few yards.

Any idea how the gain of the Roc-lon compares to the stuff from JoAnn's fabric? Also, do you guys leave the fabric natural or paint it.

If someone wants to buy a roll of the 110" stuff, I'd be willing to buy 10 yards of it. That's a lot more than I need, but I would have lots of spare material in case someone damaged my screen, or a friend needed some, etc.

Okay,

I've decided to buy a roll if admin will allow the sales to go through, I've e-mailed admin. and am still waiting to here back from them. I've also been in contact with Rockland Industries to get total shipped price for the roll. As soon as all the correct info is gathered I'll create a new post for everyone interested.

Here's fabricgallery's response:

Thanks for your inquiry. Our blackout is 54 inches wide and unfortunately, we do not carry a 110" width. My apologies for not being able to offer this width. Again, thanks for your email and for visiting FabricGallery.com.

sounds good Jamz.
