Hello,

Is there a free tool (not the ones that come with the camcorder) that will rename a batch of MTS files and put actual shooting date/time in the file name? E.g. 0001.MTS -> 20090710_113000.mts.

Thanks.

I use ReNamer.

It's a batch renamer where you make up your own batch renaming rules. I rename my MTS files with the date/time too.

The format I have comes out as: 6-28-2009 06.48.42.MTS but there are several ways that it can be displayed if you look into the renamer settings

If you drag the MTS files DIRECTLY from the cam to windows explorer then windows will show the "date modified" as the actual time/date shot.

I then use renamer with the following rules:

1) Delete from position 1 until the end (skip extension)

2) Insert "File_DateModified as prefix

Thanks.

Yes, I was planning to just copy the MTS files without using the Canon ImageMixer application.

So, there is no tool then that is able to grab the actual shooting date information from within the file?
