Rboster: Please don't lock/delete this thread! Rest assured I have scoured as many resources as I can find (including http://bluray.liesinc.net/index.php?region=b ) for region status info, but haven't been able to unearth any useful info...hence the following post to fellow AVSers.


Posted this in the import thread, but thought I'd get much better visibility on a standalone basis


Amazon.fr is running a BOGOF on multiple titles, and I'm interested in the Fox-Pathe pressings of the A la poursuite du diamant vert [Blu-ray] (Romancing the Stone) and Le diamant du nil [Blu-ray] (Jewel of the Nile):

I can't seem to find any info on the region free/locked status, and Fox-Pathe have been a bit schizophrenic on that front (although later releases do appear to be region locked more often than not).


Any input on the above would be very welcome.

Have already asked on the Imports thread...not sure how asking on a thread devoted to release dates is helpful (the U.S. and French versions of both movies have been out for at least a few months at this point). Have also searched globally on AVS with no luck. Please bear in mind that I'm specifically inquiring re: the region free/locked status of the French BD pressings of these films - not because they aren't available stateside, but rather b/c there's an attractive BOGOF running on them right now at Amazon.fr

On a whim I decided to check blurayboxsets.com, and managed to snag the U.S. version of both movies shipped for just over $41 which is ~the same as what I'd get under the Amazon.fr BOGOF, and ~$12 cheaper than Amazon.com (I get charged tax).

How much you going to save over the BDs available at Amazon.com? $2-3 per title? Less if you're Amazon Prime. IMO it's not worth all the hub-bub.

I'd save ~$12 on the entire order...you missed my earlier post.

I thought it was buy 2 get one free. My mistake. $15 per disc (b1:1f) vs $20 (b2:1f) is a bigger difference.
