Dumb question.....With a player like the denon 2900 that has only a slight rolloff in frequency response, is it possible to pump up the player's sharpness a click to flatten it out?

I can imagine this couldnt be done with a severe rolloff like the 900 without introducing ringing

Any thoughts?

Yes I've been able to compensate somewhat with the sharpness control on the TV, but that can introduce some artifacts like minor ringing. If its only 1-2 db dropoff at the high end thats doable. But for much beyond 3db (like the Denon DVD-900) its too much to compensate for well. Of course it depends on the HDTV display, not all are as good at higher sharpness levels. I see the DVD-2900 is only down -1.5db at the high end, that should be no problem, you might not even notice that small a drop anyway. Only worry about -3db or more rolloff.
