My friend is looking for a low cost 16x9 HDTV in the 32" to 38" range. A built in Tuner is not mandatory. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

If they have Fry's in your area they have a Sharp 55" widescreen (55RWP4H) on sale through 5/7 for $1579!!! This is quite a bit larger but a really good deal. Actually, this is one of the steller deals in HDTV. I saw this in action at the Fry's in Woodland Hills, CA.

My "friend" is looking for something that is low cost as well. Is there a good site that has a nice database/list of hdtv sets listed by price? hdtvgalaxy.com has a nice list of HD sets listed by manufacturer but its not too flexible.

I am, er, *he is* looking more towards direct view sets. :)

I really dont think there is a low cost 16x9 direct view set. You can get a 4x3 27" Samsung for around $800.00. IF you want 16x9 your probably going to be closer to 2grand.

Marc,

I've found some HDTV 16x9 sets for approx $1600

This is the best that I've seen.
