In experimenting with all types of systems from the Linux based DTV TiVo > DishNetwork > SageTV, MCE, I have learned that paying for TV is overrated. I pay for TV now but only so that I can get a clear signal.

Has anyone gone from having it all (with hacking and everything) to a standard antenna.

I would not do this for lack of funds but rather because I hate the idea of paying for something that was once paid for in it's entirety, by advertising alone.

I don't understand some things about this and would like some information.

TV over the air is free, right! Even satelite is free unless you are "selling the re-broadcast", hence the reason cable broadcast is just seconds behind DTV and Dish broadcast.

My cable company recently stopped DTV from re-broadcasting the local ABC channel until it got more money.

It got me to thinking that there has to be some way to recieve those satellite signals (for just the local stuff) without the signal loss due to an antenna.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
