I am selling a nice Adcom GFA-7705.

SOLD!

I have am amplifier hobby and have owned several Adcom amplifiers including a GFA-7000, GFA-7500, and GFA-7607. This is one of the nicer ones that I have had but I just don't need it in my current setup.

This is a 5 channel 200 watt per channel amplifier at an 8ohm load or 300W into 4 ohms. It is a very robust and solidly made amplifier. It weighs in at 75lbs without any packing material!

I tested it on my personal speakers including my vintage JBL 4412's which have 12inch drivers, 5" mids and it sounds very clean. It does have the classic Adcom power on "thunk" sound but is very clean. I checked and adjusted the bias voltages to the specs in the service manual to ensure that they were within spec and replaced all of the screws. Each board is well grounded with a grounding strap wire to the chassis to ensure that there is no idling hiss with this amplifier.

It has some normal wear and tear but is in very nice shape overall. It has a couple of small front panel scratches that will be hard to see from a few feet away (pictured) and some scratches on the top panel (pictured).

I realized while posting this that I forgot to take a picture of the rear panel before packaging it. The back panel is clean and the boards have new stainless screws on the rear panel. I can take it back out but I prefer to keep it packed up for shipping. You have my word that there are no issues with the speaker jacks or anything on the rear panel other than perhaps some very small normal use scratches.

This amplifier was modified by a previous owner to have a 15amp plug. It has a very nice high end audio grade rhodium plated 15amp plug

Anyone really pushing 5x200 watts might want to upgrade their wall connection to 20amps and add a 20amp plug to avoid tripping their circuit breakers at extreme volume levels. This amplifier also has provisions for 2 extra channels and could be upgraded to a 7707 by adding 2 more amplifier boards in the future. I am in Phoenix where Adcom was based so I do have contacts who have more boards but I didn't feel the need for more than 5x200W.

A previous owner must have had a hard time getting a screw out based on the swirled scratches over one screw. I replaced all of the screws and the threads were all in good shape.

LMK if you have any questions!

Curious if you still have this amp. Trying to put together an adcom bedroom system and this might be a nice fit. Thank you.

I still have it but it will now be a 7707 (with the 7705 marked front panel).

This 7705 had provisions for 2 more channels and I found a source for them at a reasonable price so I bought two more boards.

That means the price goes up by about $400 given the extra capabilities.
