EDIT: I WILL NOW ALSO SHIP AT THE BUYERS EXPENSE!

Up for sale I have a BenQ HT2050 Projector. I bought as a refurb in late 2016. The bulb blew a few days ago and I bought a replacement bulb from Benq but once I had it on I could see dust spots on the screen. Opened it up and cleaned out the lens housing with a glasses cleaning cloth and while it got rid of 90% of the larger spots, when the screen goes complete black you still see dust / hot spots. When there is a picture you cannot see any of this beside one small spot in the lower right corner where it looks like there is dirt on the screen. Even this spot however is only visible on certain scenes.

It may be able to clean out perfectly with more patience, I'm honestly not sure but didn't feel like tearing it apart again. I already spent $250 on a new lamp so I just ended up ordering a new refurb ht2050 unit from benqdirect. With that being said, I'll be keeping the new lamp as well so I have a spare for the new unit. This sale is for the projector unit only.

Looking for $100 picked up in Stickney, IL 60402. I figure you can pick up a cheap amazon bulb for about $100 and get a nice setup with a small inconvenience for $200 total (or perfectly working if you know how to clean out the dust better than I can). The dust can be focused on if you play with the focus dial so I'm assuming its in the back lens of the focal path.

I don't receive my replacement projector until next week sometime so you are more than welcome to take a look at it while I still have it mounted on the ceiling with the new bulb in it.

If you have any questions just let me know!

-Eric

EDIT:

The new bulb was used for about 20hours give or take before the new projector came and it went back in the box. (didn't check the exact time as I originally intended on just keeping it)

If anyone is interested in the projector with bulb, I will include the bulb for what I paid for it + $100, so $350 for the projector with a new bulb.

At this point I would rather do a local sale than shipping it out. Might ship it out if it doesn't sell anytime soon. I'm assuming shipping would be somewhere in the $20-40 range.

It does NOT come with a bulb. Since I bought a replacement HT2050 I decided to keep the new bulb I just purchased as a spare.

This is also why I prefer to do a local sale so I can demo the unit with my bulb to display it works and show the dust spots that are on the screen.

A few questions:
1) Still available?
2) does it come with a lamp/bulb housing? Like from your old bulb or did you reuse the the housing for the new bulb?
3) Got any pictures showing what the dust spots look like normally?

Thanks!

Hi, yes it is still available. It does not come with the original lamp housing. I threw that out as I wasn't planning to sell it at the time, and the old bulb exploded so I assumed there was likely some damage to the lens on that. I had replaced it with a OEM bulb / housing from benqdirect, which can be included at cost ($250, so $350 for the bulb and projector).. otherwise I will just be keeping it since I bought the same projector again.

I unfortunately do not have any photos as I already took it down, but I will try to set it up on the wall and capture its defects either later today or tomorrow. When the picture is on, only one of the spots is noticeable, and its pretty small and basically looks like there's some dirt on the screen. On the 106" I had it set up with, it was about 2-3inches in size on the rower right. The dust particle spots are visible on a all black screen.

Eric,

Thanks for trying to take some photos when you get a chance. I'm not sure how well you can capture the defects, but would be great if I can somehow see the issues when on a black screen and with a picture. I'm very interested and am located fairly near your area so pickup shouldn't be an issue. Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Thanks again,
Dave

Not a problem. Sorry for the delay, it's been a busy week with work so when I get a chance I'll set it up and take pictures of both the black screen dust spots and the only spot that shows on the picture

Bump. I tried to snap a photo but it wasn't showing very well when projected onto the wall. I will gladly set it up and display it prior to purchase. If someone is interested I can also include the new OEM bulb for what I paid for it ($250). So you'll be looking at $350 total with the bulb.
