I wanted to let everyone know about a good deal.

I just bought 2 Clark 329F transducers (the "good ones" - $499.00 retail on Clark's web site) for $200 each. The gentleman that I bought them from (Jason) shipped them immediately, and in general was a pleasure to work with.

He has 3 more transducers for sale.

If you are interested, you can email him directly at: [email protected]

I am not affiliated with this fellow, nor can I guarantee results (of course). I am just relaying my very positive experience and this good deal.

Hi Randy,

They looked like they have excellent build quality, but the used amplifier that I purchased to power them is not working, so I am not using them at the moment.

As soon as I get (another) amp. to power these puppies, I think that I am going to be pleased! Sorry I don't have a nice little cheer for you...believe me, I would love to have one! I can't wait to get the setup of the HT completed!

In the "For what it's worth" dept - My experience with the Clark's is that they do a great job of adding bass effect, 'cause you feel it! BUT, they are full range and will output vocals etc. which may not be what you are looking for. IMHO, they are best when used by themselves ie: as speakers when mounted to a wooden deck; OR, with a cross over to filter out the muffled and therefore annoying upper freqs that will still escape your over-stuffed recliner. Honesty demands that I admit to having never used them "stand-alone" but the instructions plainly instruct you to use them that way using them full range.

Good point. When I was using them, I was running them out of the Subwoofer 2 LFE output (I only have 1 15" subwoofer).

They were automatically crossed over at 80 Hz that way. When I first got them, I just unplugged my left-front speaker and plugged in the transducer. EEK! It reproduced EVERYTHING from the lowest lows to the singer's voice. A little strange to "feel" someone singing like that.

It's definitely a better idea for an HT to cross them over at 80 Hz (or lower) or to run them from your LFE channel.

I figure that it will be excellent support for the sub. to have them reproduce exactly the same information.

The big advantage with the clark over the others is greater output per unit with lack of a 60hz peak so evident in the smaller units. Guy Kuo modified his relatively inexpensive shakers to extend the bass ouput into the lower octave without the severe drop off evident in the stock units.

Hi Tommy,

He is currently on tour with Don Henley, so he sometimes takes a day or two to respond. He does check it, though.

I thought that it was cool that the transducers in my HT were on tour with some of the biggest names in show biz before visiting the bottom of my couch!

By the way, they do show some cosmetic wear-and-tear from being on tour, but you can't beat the price! Plus, who is ever going to see them?

Tom,

Sorry, but I bought the last three he had.

He might have more in the future.

Now, on to bolt these puppies to the seats...

I use a pair of Clark Synthesis 329F units in my system. I started out with an array of 8 RBH FX80 models. (high performance Aura's)

The Clarks provide a much more controlled, smoother and detailed tactile sensation.

I have the TT units mounted to a queen size adjustable beds box springs. (my HT is bedroom based)

The box springs underside is comprised of three ¾" plywood panels that span the beds entire surface. There are ½" gaps between the panels to allow head and foot adjustments.

The TT units are pre mounted to 10" x 12" x ¾" plywood panels then firmly secured to the upper and lower box springs sections.

This mounting configuration provides a tactile sensation from head to heel.

I have them low passed at 60Hz and use them with a pair of 18" subwoofers for LFE channel reproduction.

No problem Jon. Enjoy!

Unfortunately, he wrote me and told me he can get them for a mere $600. Yikes! That is a little more than $200 each. I'll guess I'll keep my eyes peeled for something on ebay.
