For those who want Japan DVD-R and +R discs Staples

now has the 30 packs. $18 bucks but they have been on sale for

under $10. recently.

These discs work good.

They come in 10 packs in a plastic case and the three cases are shrink wrapped.

I've not seen these anywhere else.

And they are all from Japan.

I've not seen any from countries other than Japan.

Made in Taiwan.

Looks like they're out of stock right now, but they have an auto notify.

I couldn't find any Fujis at all at my Staples.

Amazon has $25 mail in rebates for 100 pk -R or +R Verbatim 8X.

The -R was $31 after rebate. Free shipping.

Best Buy has Fuji 25 stacks for 9.99. They had tons of them. I have a cheapo cyberhome 1600 and the Fuji disks have all worked out well. With a $99 dollar machine its pickey about disks. I figure if they work in the cyberhome they've got to work in higher end units. I went back to BB and bought 3 more stacks (75 disks for 33 bucks) after I knew my machine would finalize them.

These are from Taiwan. Although I've never had a problem with Fuji's either from Taiwan or Japan, I do prefer to get the ones from Japan when I can.

For some reason Staples has these new Fuji 30 packs of DVD-R and DVD+R discs located in other places in their store.

They are not located with the DVD and CD blanks.

So you need to ask the manager.

Or look at the end displays on the isles.

One store had them up from on the end and another had them in the back of the

isle.

Have no clue why they don't have some on the shelf with the other blank media.

So you might want to try Staples again and look around their store.

These Japanese Fuji's are great discs.

Sure wish someone would sell the DVD jewel cases made for DVD's and not just CD jewel cases. Those nice DVD jewel cases allow the DVD to spin and they don't hold them tight like CD jewel cases. But I've not seen these for sale anywhere.

And I don't want the standard shaped plastic DVD library case.

BTW, they also have Fuji CDR's in packs too.

I think they are also from Japan.

Forgive my ignorance, but how are the DVD jewel cases different from CD jewel cases other than a different logo? I have seen both slim and standard jewel cases used for both types of media, but didn't realize that there were separate cases designed for each type of media.

They look the same except for the center spindle.

DVD jewel cases which come DVD's usually in 10 packs differ

in the spindle. It holds the DVD firmly but allows the disc to spin.

As opposed to regular CD jewel cases which hold the disc firmly in place.

The reason you want the DVD to have a slight gap in the spindle and not be

held tight is when you try and take it off you might create micro-cracks that when

the DVD is played in the player it could become more cracked and not play.

DVD's spin much faster than CD's. So making it easier to take the DVD in/out of the case is preferred.

To my knowledge you can't buy these DVD jewel cases.

Only CD jewel cases.

Further you can get the regular DVD style plastic library case but

some of them aren't much better than CD cases in taking the discs in and out.

And I don't care for most standard dvd cases I much prefer the ones that come with blank DVD's in 10 packs. They also take up much less space.

I've no idea if this cracking issue is really that big a deal but I'd rather be safe.

But I hate paying so much for the blanks just to get the cases.

Seems logical that someone would sell these DVD jewel cases but I've not seen any.

If anyone knows please post on the board.

Thanks, bjf
