672 Views 10 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Sirluckyj
Is anyone using the "Effective" picture mode. I changed to these settings and was impressed:

Contrast: -2

Drive Contrast: 65

Brightness: 0

Color: -13

Tint: 0

Sharpness: -6

Amb. Sensor: off

Pic. Mode: Effective

Black Level: -9

Red: 255

Green: 246

Blue: 246

All others: Default

I'd appreciate others opinion.

Thanks.

Anyone with an opinion?
Ask Ken Ross. I believe he has this set and his opinions are always very reliable.
After having tried several picture adjustment setups, I opted for the still mode. I considered having the tv professionally calibrated; but I was concerned I might not like the result. I therefore decided to calibrate it to my own eyes. With all the adjustments it was painfully slow. I had separate adjustments for different sources. In the end I use the same setup for all my sources. I might tweak a bit for a particular program; but I usually default to my setup.

If you like I will post my picture setup ?
Jim, as I recall, doesn't the "effective mode" really drive up color? I seem to have discounted that mode when I originally set mine up since I thought the picture was just too hyped and not realistic.

Rdkaz: Please post them. Since starting this thread, I have gone back to the 'natural" mode for just the reasons Ken Ross mentions. Here now are my settings:

Contrast: -2

Drive Conrast: 65

Brightness: 0

Color: -4

Sharpness: -6

Mode: natural

Black Level: -6

Color Temp.: Standard (255,244,244)

By the way, I use the Static (Still) mode on my other P50(10).

RDKAZ:

A little too red for me. Go to color focus and make targeting red, color -4. This gives a pretty good picture.
