Not even dreaming of going this route.


But this guy claims it is repairable??


Just what is the extent of repair possible. If a pixel winks out can they repair it and put it out as refurbished?

who knows what damage lies behind the hole in the glass. I don't know of any way to estimate damage from a picture, but it looks pretty severe and could cost more to repair that the cost of a new one. Given he says that it has "a cracked LCD", when this is a plasma not an LCD display, I would put zero credence on his claim that it is repairable. It also looks like the case is cracked in the upper right hand corner, indicating other damage is also possible.

If it is really repairable, then let the seller get it repaired, price it appropriately, and offer some kind of warranty. Otherwise you are purchasing a pig in a poke - about the same as buying a shoebox full of miscellaneous electronic parts at a flea market.
