Future Panasonic Plasma purchase

Based on Panasonic's recent response to not fix the rising black level issue (please read article first: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10449939-1.html ), and D-Nice's claim that it is a fixable problem, would you purchase and/or recommend purchasing a Panasonic plasma HDTV in the future?

This poll is similar to another one but is intended to show Panasonic exactly what effect their decision has on discerning Panasonic plasma HDTV buyers who specifically bought their sets based on reviews touting, among other things, excellent black levels.

Please answer whether or not you currently have a black level rising issue.

This poll is for current Panasonic 11G/12G plasma owners ONLY

Yes, I know, but your poll was done prior to Panasonic's response

If this issue is swept under the carpet, I won't purchase Panasonic again...and I don't even have the rising blacks yet.
Well I am a 50" S1 owner and I still have 2 days left on my return window. Imagine my anxiety as to whether or not to pull the plug or not
I have not had any issues with my levels to date, that I know of, since I dont have a measuring tool. I called Panasonic 3 days ago and was supposed to have had a supervisor return my call within the last 2 days. No call, so I am calling them back today. I must say that, along with the sub-par response to the rapidly rising black level issue, this ignorance has really caused me to rethink my purchase. If I knew that it could or would be fixed if I ever ran into the issue, I would feel more comfortable about sitting back and enjoying my set. However, I will admit that all this hype is sucking me in and placing me on the fence. What do yall think I should do?

Return your TV. That way someone else can get a good deal on an open box TV.
I just went through a lengthy and stressful refund process on my Samsung plasma. I'm still waiting for the check to arrive.

I have originally planned on going to Panasonic, until I began reading all these horror stories about the black levels, and Panasonic's refusal to do anything about it. At least Samsung stood by the warranty and in the end, di the right thing even though I was a little disappointed with the monetary amount.

I don't know what I'm going to do now, but more than likely it won't be a Samsung and certainly not a Panasonic.

I'll be going back to my old SONY XBR tube tv for the time being.

whats that supposed to mean?
I don't see how anyone would want to buy one after what they've said. I bet current owners that don't have the problem said they'd buy again. Those people just got lucky, they don't understand that though.
He means that even you're one of the unlucky who do get the rising black levels, it'll still be better than an LCD. Biased lighting or a few lamps nearby would probably do wonders. At the prices Panasonics are going for now you're unlikely to find anything better than it for a balance of reliability/quality. The fact that many people don't notice it means that a) it's either not as widespread as the fearmongers make out or b) it's not as severe to the average customer who doesn't watch in a pitch black environment. Unless you plan on getting one of the 2010 G or V series plasmas, just keep it and be happy.

Thanks a lot man. i appreciate your explanation. I guess I fear that I'm somewhere in between your average consumer and a nitpicky techy
I do watch a lot of tv in complete darkness, so that is definitely a consideration. That being said, before I joined this site I might have never noticed. However, that's not completely a bad thing, as this site has taught me how to appreciate a good set. It has also taught me a lot about home theater in general. However, back to the point, I am worried that now I will be looking for this issue to come up, instead of just enjoying the tv. I guess I will go figure out how to reprogram myself to enjoy it for what it is, a tv. Any advice or suggestions?

I'm in the same boat as you with my 46-S1, it's very hard to stop thinking about it, as in when it might occur and furthermore hard to feel proud with the ownership of a new TV. And I don't care to admit the OCD problem I have
