Specifically the HCN529W

-----------------------------------------------

I thought I would post this so that the other 2 or 3 people on the planet that purchased this RPTV can hook their PC in via DVI.

After much pain here is a working config:

HCN529W -- Samsung 52" 720p/1080i 16:9 RPTV

DVI Detective -- using EDID from a Dell panel

2 x male to male DVI cables (2m/each) -- dual link, whether it matters, dunno

Radeon OEM 8500LE -- using DVI (also has s-video out, dsub and 64mb dram)

Windows XP SP1 -- fully patched

Catalyst 4.5

Powerstrip v3.49 Build 438

---------------------------------

PS timing parameters with no overscan - 1208x648 @ 720p timing

PowerStrip timing parameters:

1208x648=1208,168,56,232,648,40,3,55,74925,2304

Generic timing details for 1208x648:

HFP=168 HSW=56 HBP=232 kHz=45 VFP=40 VSW=3 VBP=55 Hz=60

Linux modeline parameters:

"1208x648" 74.925 1208 1376 1432 1664 648 688 691 746 +hsync +vsync

---------------------------------

Misc.

-DVI is set to primary.

-Still waiting on service manual to arrive to properly calibrate the set.

---------------------------------

WAF is high even though I haven't finished tuning the set nor have I upgraded the remote. Post processing with ffshow on Sage 2.0 helps; so does turning down the bloody contrast from default 100 (at 5 now)

My poor lil AXP 2400 can barely keep up with the postprocessing work though

I am another of the 2 or 3 people. I have the HCN653W connected via DVI and I am very happy with the picture. My only major beef with the set is that it only includes one DVI input. I have 2 DVI sources (Samsung TS-360 receiver and HD-931 DVD Player) and I'm not willing to plunk down the cash for a DVI switch.

I have a Pioneer VSX-D850s AV Receiver, which I used to switch component sources when I was using component connections. I liked the convenience of that setup, but the DVI picture is significantly better than the component, so I'm stuck disconnecting and reconnecting the DVI when I want to switch between sources.

I am anxiously awaiting a resonably-priced av receiver with an integrated DVI/HDMI switch.
