I am using a dish 811 via component out to my lumagen vision passthrough to my Sony G70. Thus far the HD looks grainy and poor quality. The local digitals are even worse (I live in Tucson Az) I was using a hughes HTLHD for locals in chicago (via rgbhv out)and the pic was amazing! Is it the 811 or is it something else? (Bad component transcoding in the g70?)

Thanks

God bless...

Sell the 811 and buy a 6000. Not only does the Dish Network 6000 have VGA output, which you can connect to an Extron (VGA to RGBHV) but it's far more reliable. I've got both. Gave up on the 811 a long time ago. I'm not saying it's the cause of your current problem, but you'll most likely be alot happier with the 6000 in any case. Ask dish if you can trade. Tell them the 811 is causing too many problems and you want the 6000 instead. Talk to the right CSR and you'll get them to okay this.

There's nothing wrong with the G70s component input, assuming you have everything set properly in the menu settings. Your problem must be elsewhere, maybe it's the receiver.

I thought it was long gone.
They have plenty of refurbed models. I just got my replacement 6000 earlier this week. Too bad it's optical output was DOA and they are sending me another one tuesday.

I asked them to swap my 811 for a 6000. They said "no".

I asked what they will do to make up for my 811 problems. They said "nothing". They are working on a fix and will not offer any reparations other than to say "sorry, this is a known issue and we are working on it". Well I've been getting that speach since December of last year and come December this year, I'm cancelling my Dish contract and going back to DirecTV.

Ever day for the last year I've had to do a "check switch" or "reboot the receiver" in order to view HDTV. That's about an eight-twelve minute wait every day.

What do I get for my trouble? One free month of HD programming. lol
