G70 : Suddenly I have dim picture, help!

343 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  techman707
Hi, I have G70 almost 2 years and works flawlessly.

Last night when I turn on the pj,suddenly I have dim picture.Very noticeable in white color, white become not pure white.

Two days ago I use the pj, and it works flawlessly (I didn't do any adjustment or tweaks) since then I haven't turn on the pj until last night.

Anyone know, what causing this?

Could be cable problem? Problem with VGA card?Or my main AC voltage down?

I use this pj with 9700PRO MP-1 and the pj just have 905 hours.I used contrast setting : 54 and brightness : 56

Try this. On the remote cut off each CRT one at a time to see if the brightness jumps up to normal on the two remaining lit. This will tell you if the pj is going into protection mode due to a defective neck board on one of the CRT's.
It sounds like it the VGA connector on your display card. I've seen this problem MANY times.

I also suspect this, maybe something wrong in the cable connector although I didn't do anything with that.

I will try to use other PC as a source, I hope you right.

I'll report back after I try other source, maybe this weekend.

Thanks for all advice. :)
Dropping a color with a 15 pin VGA connector is very common, especially if it's not screwed in good.

I'm using MP-1 with 5 BNC connector, but since I first received that, the connector didn't look perfect. Some pin inside connector already damaged.Maybe this cause the problem.

I tried "matrix" method, but the brightness didn't jump to normal.I guess this is not the defective neck board problem.
If you don't find the problem on the MP-1 card, if you can, try another video card just to RULE OUT the one you're using. While nothing is impossible, I still don't think the problem is with the G70.
