Gallo Micro vs Diva for Atmos 5.1.2

801 Views 8 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  TheMiltonian
Hi,

Im considering taking the step from my 5.1 to a 5.1.2 setup.

I need clean looking ceiling mounted speakers and found Gallo Micro.
Has anyone experience from using these as Atmos speakers?
Would it make a big difference to move up to the bigger Gallo Divas?

Thanks in advance!

I’m running a full 5.2.4 Atmos setup with 9 A’diva’s (way back I started with 5 Micros) … it does make a difference but I’d add the A’diva’s incrementally rather than all at once, ie get 2 (or 3) for the L(C)R first & then get a second subwoofer before going all A’diva … after the second sub, you might be interested in going 5.2.4 or 7.2.4 (ie a new AVR if your present one doesn’t do 4 height channels).

Rereading your post, it seems that you’re looking at Gallo purely for the Height channels, if that’s the case, it would only matter if your ceilings are particularly high and even then only if you have a quiet listening space … you’ll want to cross them over pretty high (120 or so, the higher your ceiling the higher you’ll want to cross them over) … lowest would be 90 for A’diva’s, 120 for micros at height
Bose cubes would do the same thing, and MIGHT even cost less...
Might I respectfully suggest that Bose cubes & Gallo anything are not in the same category. I’d be surprised if you’d heard any Gallos at all.

Unless he already owns them, it’s almost sacrilege that you’d suggest such a thing.
😵‍💫😑

Thanks for the input. So the micros would be enough? I’m not playing particularly loud since I live in an apartment.
Without question, run the calibration, cross them over 120 or so … unless you make an effort, most Atmos mixes don’t have a lot of content up top … if you find the reference discs, things can get more interesting.

but for basic immersion, the micros are top class.
Hey quick question, what AVR are you using with the A'Divas?
