Gallo TR-2 Alternative

I have a Gallo Reference AV 5.1 setup with a TR-2 subwoofer (got in a pkg deal). I am looking for a replacement. Something that can go lower and pound a little harder for movies, but I would like it to still be quick like the TR-2. The room is 25' x 11' with 9' ceilings.

I am also hoping not to go too huge on the sub. I am currently considering the SVS SB-12 Plus (trying to keep under $1000usd).

p.s. - considering building one using one of four Image Dynamics ID-Max 12" subs in my closet, any thoughts?
