I'm back to doing some additional tweaking on my Pro-510HD, and I've noticed that black detail is really off on the set.

I used one the RadioShack photocells (276-1657), and it backs up what I'm seeing- gamma appears too low on the low end and into the midrange IRE levels.

To my eye, this seems to be a problem with all sources (Cable via S-Vid, LD via composite, 480i and 480p DVD, and HD).

How can I go about adjusting this out, or am I going to have to bring the black level up to a "too-high" level, and live with it?

Thanks,

Todd

You are correct, black level detail on many sets (including Pioneer) is not what it should be. Unfortunately, most sets do not have a Gamma adjustment (I believe Pioneer does not...Mits does). Your best bet is to utilize a DVD player or video processor with Gamma adjustment.

...or trade-in for a Mits Diamond
