Anyone know what the gemstone 7 ch. amp watts are "per channel" with all channels driven using 4 ohm & 8 ohm speakers, on there site it just says,

Power Output at 8 Ω 200 Watts

Power Output at 4 Ω 400 Watts (Doubles Down)

It does not say if it's all channels driven ?

Thanks Jim

Assuming 50% efficiency, 7 channels driven at 200W (400W draw) is 23.33... amps.

I assume the efficiency is greater than 50%. The owner of the company has clarified that it will produce 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms with all channels driven, but it cannot produce 400 watts per channel into 4 ohms with all channels driven. Only reason I mention this is the second post implied the Gemstone spec for 8 ohm output was not for all channels driven.

It's definitely not above 50%. That's Class-D/T/X (digital) territory only. You either need to give that amp a dedicated (and beefy) circuit, or it's not a continuous rating. ***************.com says "Mode of Operation Class A/AB " for it, not sure if it can be biased into class A or if they're just not specific (or plain incorrect).

The Gemstone will run its first 3-5 watts in pure Class A mode.

Then it will run AB, and this is right around 50% efficiency.
