Will a standalone DVD recorder (like the Panny EM/HS) be any good for recording off of the SIR-T150 set top box?

I connect my regular DVD and settop box straight to the component inputs of the Mits 55119 since my receiver doesn't do component switching. So I guess it'll be all component connections (settop DVDrecorder Mits 55119).

Would I even be able to schedule recording so the DVD recorder turns the SIR-T150 on/off?

Just a note that the Philips DVDR75 has component input and outputs (the Panny's don't)...I love mine and the picture quality and timer recording workds great.

One drawback..it doesn't have a IR device that changes channel on Sat or Cable..(not a problem for me because my Hughes DTV box switches to the shows I save as favorites)

The DVDR80 has an IR device however.

Thanks for that info on component inputs Gordon.

I'm still a little confused as how I will hookup the DVDrecorder between my settop box & TV since the my receiver doesn't take component.

Is it settopboxdvdrecorderTV?
