Right now I am using my playstation 2 as my dvd player, I finally got my subwoofer today so I was planning on watching some movies in 5.1 but I've run into a problem. I have an optical cable plugged into digital input 1 in my receiver from the playstation 2 and have the receivers dvd setting on dig input 1, yet I get no sound at all when doing this, I can go switch it back to analog and get sound as I have the left and right analog plugs stil plugged into the back of the receiver that are coming from the ps2 as well. Any suggestions on why I'm not getting any sound when I switch over to digital.

Perhaps the PS2 is not configured to output a digital signal.

Either the PS2 has to be set to output digital signal or the receiver has to be set to digital input instead of analog. Or both.

Thanks guys, I found out it was the ps2 that was not set up right. Appreciate the help though.
