Boy am i confused. I bought a screenplay 7205. I saw a DVI dvdplayer and i want to buy it because it can upconvert 720 to 1081.. then i looked at an outboard scaler that can do the same.. but then, isnt my projector actually line doubling to get the picture to fill the screen? I guess im asking, whats the difference between enlarging an image (what the projector is doing) and upconverting the image? sorry but im confused..

thanks for any help...

Your projector will accept 1080i but it will convert it to 720p. 720p is the native rate of the TI chip your projector uses. There would be no point and only deterioration of PQ to output to the projector 1080i. You probably should just feed it 720p via DVI from the DVD player. But depending on the quality of the scaler in each unit, you might get better PQ feeding it 480p from the DVD player via DVI and letting the projector scale it to 720p. Try it both ways and use whatever is better.
