I have Powerstrip set to the predefined standard 1080i resolution, and I'm using VGA into my RPTV, but the image is shaky and fuzzy.

What can I do to clear this up?

Computer output at high resolutions and low refresh rates is fuzzy/blurry. Have you ever set a CRT computer monitor to a high resoution and low refresh rate and noticed that the picture is blurry and/or flickery? You are seeing the same thing on your TV just on a much larger screen.

When dealing with the PC desktop I find that a 540p resolution is much clearer and easier on the eyes than 1080i. In general I have found that progressive resolutions, even at higher resolutions like 720p, are clearer than interlaced ones.

That's a good tip. 960x540p does look better, and my TV thinks it's 1080i so I should be OK.

Only problem is that it still overscans the top of the desktop (even with the suggested Powerstrip settings), and the dvd image is still not as crisp as my Pioneer progressive player. I'm using a DVI connector from a Radeon 9700.
