In my experience (with most electronics), manufacturing defects will typically become evident within the first few weeks/months of use. Considering that Samsung has a 1 year parts and labor warranty with on-site service for their 30" and above LCD's, you need to figure out whether it's worth it to you to spend the additional $150 now for two extra years of coverage. ......it's $75 a year (not $50) since any problems during the first year are covered by the manufacturer. Through personal experience in the indusrty and as a consumer, I believe most (not all) extended warranties are simply revenue generating opportunities for the mfg'er/reseller.
