Hi all,

I'm looking into getting a Momitsu DVD player, but I'm in Toronto, so I'm hesitant to order from a US store.

I'm in the process of moving some of my equipment off of my HTPC, but the price of component-RGBHV transcoders seems absurd to me. So, I'm going to return my LG DVI-D player, and buy a HD satellite and a Momitsu that support RGBHV.

I guess we aren't lucky enough to have a Canadian reseller for it yet, right?

So, I'm looking for some feedback from Canadian buyers of the Momitsu.

-How much did you pay in duty and Brokerage fees?

-Model and Price?

-Which reseller did you buy from?

-Your impression of the reseller's service?

If a few buyers could spare a minute and let me know, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks.

I think you can order from ********.com for Canadian delivery. Try them.

I bought from them and they are located in Taiwan. I had no problems with delivery beyond the expense of postage.

There is also a vendor in Hong Kong if that helps. (I think it's HiViZone (dot) com)

I live in Burlington, down the road. I bought the 880 about 6 wks ago from Extremephono in the US. MSRP was $249 plus $40 US shipping. Landed it cost me $375 CDN + $25 GST and importing fee. $400 end of story.

I was also looking into buying the momitsu from Extremephono but ended up buying the LG 7832NXC locally. Didn't want the hassle of ordering it from out of the country and taking a chance. For the most part they are similar players. LG has the DCDI as well.

Hi Seawolf,

I am living 50 km west of Toronto. I ordered mine at extremephono.

Extreme good customer service - kept me always updated and provided tracking number. Was sent with Purelator. Duties were around 25$ CAD.

Overall a very good experience.

For that price why didn't you get the LG7832 player from 2001? Could have saved youself $100 and the aggrevation if something goes wrong.

HKFLIX just do a internet search for the momitsu dvdv880. there are a few companies selling them, all about the same price. This is what I paid for it last night.

This is for Kevin, and PoolboyClay.

No, the LG is only DVI-D, which is why I returned it. I'm not paying $300+ for a transcoder when I can buy a DVD player with DVI-I which can be used with RGB HV.

I'm just trying to find the price, and the RGB HV compatibility of the 880N's video scaling option, then I'll order. Thanks for the extreem reccomendation guys, I'll probably order from them.

Well, just ordered from extreeme, though the paypal account in place of a phone/web order system made me very cautious. Unfortunately, the two other US resellers were out of stock/shipping UPS, so I didn't see any other option.

We'll see how it goes...

They are great to deal with! I live 45 minutes from Toronto and ordered mine and received it with no problems! They even marked a lower value on the shipping forms for me so i didn't have to pay any duty!

Wow seawolf...I ordered mine a few days ago, and according to my tracking number it landed in Canada two days ago. The tracking information hasn't been updated since though. I hope to get it by MOnday.

I ordered mine back on June 15th as well, but it hasn't arrived yet. I received no shipping confirmation and so I emailed them (after 8 days) and received a very brief email back thanking me for my order and prioviding a tracking number, but I have been unable to determine what courier was used and the number doesn't seem to match any known formats. I replied asking what method was used, but haven't received a response.

What shipping company did they use? I tried entering the number they gave me into the USPS and UPS sites, and neither worked. I doubt they would use FedEx.
