Good evening all,



I have over 400 plus DVD (standard, Blu-Ray and HD DVD). I was looking at media server and player but my wife denied the purchase of such unit.


Is there a way to do it with a computer server and software for less than 1500 $

I have both WDTV and Xtreamer and the wife likes these little boxes much better than a bulky PC. Btw, just got it yesterdau, but I'm very happy with the Xtreamer

So you already have a PC and want to get a Server/player? You can look at the HP MediaSmart Servers or the Acer EasyStore servers. I have the first gen HP MediaSmart Server with about 8.5TB worth of data (mostly movies). Here is the Mediasmartserver forum that I am an active member in ( http://www.mediasmartserver.net/forums/ ). This would run you from $400-$700. As far as a player, there are various different players on the market such as the PCH A-110, SageTV HD200, Xtreamer, etc... that all fall in around the $200 range.

There are several media servers that "stream" to a front end unit. Maybe you could fill us in on what you already have (Blu-Ray Player, PC specs, etc.) so we can suggest the best/cheapest route?
