For the one stuck at 11%: Yeah, it sits there for a long time. I remember 2.0 had a similar point where it seemed to get "stuck."
My first brush with 3.0 wasn't so exciting. Rack it up to failing eyesight, but somehow, I managed to miss the "Record options" button on the record screen every time I went looking for it. Shoot, now that I see (from another thread) that it's really there, I wanna drive back home just to look at it.
For what we get today (before the roll-out of the my.replaytv.com service), this seems more cosmetic than most things. The only function changes I could really detect was the addition of "Manual Record" to the menu, and (I'm told, 'cause I'm blind) the new record options option. And, FWIW, a while back (just for giggles), I enabled Play Continuously in the CFP, and that's still enabled.
The rest seemed to be a facelift. Screens are a little more transparent than they used to be, but you're still not going to see center-screen action. The horizontal scrolling is nice - seems to work both within the program grid and the list of recorded shows. The exit-from-pause-ad feature works as advertised, although I still don't see what the big deal is (although I must say, I don't watch those stations that some of you might want to pause).
While desperately searching for something new, because hey, I was kind of let down that I couldn't find the record options thing, I went to the menu and brought up the "Setup" sub-menu. There was an item called "Register"
I've got to ask: Has that always been there?
Basically, call the 800 number or web site, give the serial number, and it says that that new features of 3.0 will be "turned on." Does that mean the my.replaytv.com stuff? Because my memory is obviously failing as fast as my eyesight, I can't seem to remember if the register screen was there in 2.0, and whether I already did that.
What the heck? I moved recently, so I went and registered (or reregistered). After the prime time recording was done, forced another connect to see if there would be anything additional after the registration. About the only thing I saw was right after connect, and before "Setting clock" it went through some "checking subscription" check very quickly. Then, it downloaded more zones, and left me with an e-mail telling me that my dial-in number might have changed, and to rerun setup.
I really do wish that 3.0 had come with some "Welcome to 3.0; here's how to find the new features" message, although no one's going to miss the fact that it's a new version.
