Hello,

After two years of perfect functioning my 60" second generation SONY grand wega is showing ghosting of the image. It looks like fine green lines that are seen very well when there are neighbouring black and white colors.

I HAVE had that in the past, about 4 months after i 've purchased it. The tech adjusted 'video revision' or something like that in the menu and ghosting completely disappeared. Now, the revision is set to 3 - the highest and I am seeing it more and more.

Does anybody know how to fix it?

Try setting it to Auto. If that doesn't work, try 1 then 2. Mine has been set to Auto since I've owned the set...no problem with it.

Well, originally it was set to auto, sony tech set it to 2. He explained that the tv should automatically switch from one revision to another depending on the age of the set. Mine did not do it originally.

Now AUTO mode shows same quality as revision 2 or 3. Revision 1 is severely ghosted.

I do see same levels of ghosting in AUTO, 2 and 3.

i hope he does

i am pretty sure there is some service menu parameter that controls that.

i also think that eventually many people will experience it as tv's get older. I have used mine alot.

Probably true. Sony for some reason alters these parameter with lamp time. I don't understand why. It seems like everyone has problems once you hit the magic timer value. Cynically I would say it was a preprogrammed service call.

sony tech said that this value controls the speed of processing.. meaning that some part out there with age works slower than it was originally. i do not think that transistors would do that.. i am also not sure if there are any delay lines in the schema anywhere. so which part of the construction changes with time i cant even imagine.
