It's cheaper than hi-power and have 2.5 gain. What do you all think about this type of material for LCD projector? Thanks for replying.

Huey and Jon,

For a Home Theater application, traditional glass beaded surfaces are not a good choice. The beads are too large and mixed with a fixed pixel device (LCD or DLP Projectors) the image will appear grainy from the close distance you will be viewing a screen in the Home Theater setting. Also if your projector is ceiling mounted Glass Beaded is not the screen of choice because it is retro-reflective which means that it directs the light back from where it came. What you should consider instead is a 1.5 gain screen like our Video Spectra 1.5. It gets it's gain from a different type of reflective material and is not retro-reflective.

I have a DIY matte white duck cloth (gain of 0.9 to 1) now with my Sony VPL-CX1 on a shelf 2 feet above my head against the back wall. Its image is great but I want to leave more lights on for wife to read a book so I'm trying to find a higher gain screen. With the lights on enough to read comfortably, currently the night scenes are dim but daytime scenes are OK. So I thought a higher gain screen may improve my ambient light level and image brightness. The size I wanted was 69X92 for $160 at www.cousinsvideo.com model B Dalite glass-beaded, gain of 2.5. Hi power probably would be better but is $100 more ($262). Thanks for replying.

Any thoughts on how the "large-grained" glass bead Model B might fare with a low output CRT projector? I have a Sony VPH-1031Q (500 lumens I think) that I've been using with a homemade screen and I'm thinking that a commercial high gain screen might be a good upgrade.
