Going to build a home theater room from scratch in basement..want some tips

Empty basement with 9 foot ceilings. What is the ideal size for a theater room to get the most speakers possible. My last theater room in my previous house I had a 5.4.2 (ceiling atmos) system because of space.

I want to do at least a 120" screen like I had before or maybe even larger?? I am thinking of buying the Epson 4010 4k projector.

Wondering what size room I should go for? Can be pretty much as long as I want and would be 9 feet tall...about 14 feet wide possibly a little wider if that matters?

I will be doing all this myself so running all the wires everything.

Want to get some tips so I don't forget anything because I am sure I will forget stuff

thanks

My room is 20x14x9

14 is not wide enough as it puts the surrounds too close in a 7.x setup where the surrounds are directly to the sides.
In a 5.x setup it would be just wide enough as the surrounds go slightly behind you but you want a 7.x setup so go as wide as you can.
20 is plenty deep enough - I have a 165" screen and there is plenty of room to get 2 rows in with the front row at 150" from the screen.
7.x.4 is plenty in a room my size - I only have 4.5" speakers all round (plenty of subs though) and it gets to 110db - unless you want to spend loads more money or have time/expertise to rig a 9.x.6 etc

Side note if i were you id go for different projector if you like epson pay a little more and get the new 5050 or a jvc projector

Looks like 14-15 feet ...could go a bit wider but have some steel beams and ductwork at that point...can do as long as I want basically

15 feet is pretty good. For smoother bass response (fewer/smaller peaks & dips) across the width of your room, centre the woofers of your L/R speakers 5 feet from the midpoint of room width. Will help maintain seat-to-seat consistency in the low frequencies. This will put the L/R speakers 10 feet apart. Screen size will depend on whether you want your L/R speakers hidden behind the screen or just outside the frame (can still be hidden behind a false/cloth wall). Once you decide on screen size, you can choose how far away you want to sit to give you the viewing angle you desire (45 degrees, 50 degrees, 55 degrees). Seating location will determine how far back to put the rear wall for best acoustical results. Pretty straightforward steps once you decide screen size.
