Going to Vista, anything I should note?...

807 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  slick316
Finally jumping onto Vista.

I had built a gaming desktop PC and bought Vista Premium retail to use on it, but never got around to installing it. I am dismantling the desktop, using some parts to upgrade my HTPC, and selling the rest.

Biggest thing I was wondering, will my Hauppauge PVR 250 MCE and FusionHDTV lite cards work fine with Vista?

Lastly, any HDMI video cards out there that also carry sound through the HDMI?

Thanks in advance.

Someone else will have to answer this. Sorry.

Most (if not all) will have a SPDIF input connector on the card for you to connect the SPDIF output of your soundcard. It will then be carried through the HDMI.

maybe you will have better luck but i never got my fusionhdtv lite to work under vista. i have yet to get my creative xfi to work in bit perfect modes at multiples of 44kHz (CD). huappauge 1600 works for HDTV (although MS messed up the programming guide and i had to go an manually reset the entire address for NBC and for the subchannels for most stations) although only with media center which sometimes loses touch with the card until reboot especially after having played dvds prior i think. powerdvdultra seems to work now though.
FusionHDTV Lite not working is a big deal for me. I didn't see drivers for the Lite anywhere, guess thats the issue.

Do you not use a OTA HD card then? I really need OTA HD.

Thanks for all the info guys. After Lost finale tomorrow, I am going to make the upgrades, as long as the Hauppauge works, I'm good.
