Gonna get DISH 6000??? Existing subs...

I just might....

Charlie Chat just announced that existing customers can get a 6000 installed with 8PSK for $199. I currently get OTA HD only via Samsung 151 and use DVR 721 for SD programming. Since I would not likely drop the money for a DVR 921 for almost a year (plus I want to see how Direct HD PVR falls out).

Figure I could sell my Samsung for virtually what the 6000 will cost. I know I never planned to do it this way. I fully expected to wait and not bother with sat HD until I got an HD DVR, but that was mostly because until now there was not much sat HD (except premiums which I won't get) and the high price of the 6000. But now with DISH's new HD package and a 6000 for $199 installed I can no longer really see a reason not to jump on in.

I figure that this really makes it worthwhile even though it will be a temporary fix until I am confortable with both the tech and the price of the HD PVR. So $200 for H/W for a year's worth of sat HD makes pretty good sense to me!!

anyone else in similar situation or otherwise perked up by the 6000 offer?

Good thru 10/31/03...

Yah I was ready to invest in equipment from DirecTV since I couldn't wait through baseball playoffs and football season until Nov 1 (or later)....but now this makes sense to get me going until the 921 is available. A couple of questions though, do you think this will aply to a former dish subscriber, or will I have to subscribe one of my old dish boxes? And does dish offer this through their distributors who have inventory of 6000's or is this only available direct from them? Need it by Sunday after the 16th so I can catch the Niners in HD.
not sure on those details (yet) but according to the chat the deal is for current subscribers and is ordered thru DISH
