What is/are a really good (all opinions welcome) 800 x 600 resolution native 16 x 9 projector for HT. With a good de interlacer and scaler and for what inputs do the scaler / deinterlacer work?

Thanks.

But you see 800x600 is a 4:3 ratio so it cannot be a 16:9 native at the same time.

On the deinterlacer/scaler, I also called all the DVDO iScanHD dealers around here and the one Lumagen dealer. They all say for FP theres hardly any improvements. Its mainly for CRT owners.

You should review the scalers in the video processor forum.

Speedy has corrected the 4:3 16:9 misnomer, but you might want to look at the X1. The deinterlacer is possibly the best you can find on a sub 1k PJ. And, of course, it will play back your enhanced DVDs in 16:9 mode. Albeit using a 4:3 DMD chip - therefore there will be a letterboxed area. That area is easily masked. (note: 2.35 films have a letterboxed area on a 16:9 system)

You may also want to check out Technut's unofficial X1 FAQ here for lots more information.

Good luck - X1's are becoming fairly hard to find. The X2 and X1a do not have its Faroudja deinterlacer.

Wow, salespeople not willing to sell you smoething you don't need? Maybe they should go talk to some of the digital folks typically found in the video processor forum.

I own the X1 and have been very satisfied for it but if you are dead set on a widescreen projector you might want to check out the Infocus 4805. It has the same de-interlacer as the X1, with a widescren native aspect ratio, component and DVD inputs. Bear it mind the X1 is 799$ at "certain online big retail chains" (Can't name names) The 4805 on the other had is about 1499$, but there may be a powerbuy for it right now.

OK thanks. Maybe I should add that this projector is for a friend. I already own a BenQ PB6100 and I am really happy with it. another friend has an X1 both really good projectors. The X1 definatly has a better scaler and deinterlacer built in.

I also realize that it cannot be 800 x 600 and 16X9 but I could not remember the exact resolution. But thanks for reminding me.

When I was talking about scalers and deinterlacers I was talking about the quality of the ones that come in the projector. For example the Optima H30 is supposed to have really good scaler and deinterlacer (according to reviews on this site).

I personally like the 4:3 projectors but my friend does not want to have the bars etc. So I was wondering if there where any good 16:9 projectors that are the same resolution as the X1 / PB6100 / H30 that are masked to 16x9 or any native 16x9 projectors with this resolution.

Thanks.

Any other projectors out there? BTW I live in Canada so the prices are about double of what you pay in the USA.

Take a look at the Infocus 4805 - as noted above, it's a native 16:9 unit, has the Faroujia chip (similar if not identical to the one in the X1) and it's available from dealers here in the Toronto area (lets say I expect by the year 2399 you could buy the 4805 with a 72" screen and a mount - hint hint hint).

PM me if you want details...

The H30 can be set to display 800x450 "natively" and the 4805, as already mentioned, at 854x480. Both great projectors! Some one should do an a/b test! :

Later guys.
